NOTE: PLEASE READ
I am meeting Sean this morning to Drop off all supplies.
Volunteers know where they will go and what supplies they need.
We will just do the best we can - everyone just needs to be patient and flexible.
Results will be posted the week after the race.
Hey Everyone: Hope your all having a great Memorial Day Weekend, I need some help. There has been a death in my family. I will not be around for the GRM next Saturday. Everything is/was all lined up. I have everything in my van (or will have) needed for aid, check in, shirts etc. I need someone to either just take my van to to the start or take everything from my van to the start. I sent a similar email to my volunteers also. All volunteers know what they need and what to do. So can anyone help me out here? I will be driving my van to work on Tuesday - maybe I can leave my van there (or something) with someone if needed.
I will be addressing/updating the Facebook Group also so Everyone will be sure to carry a water bottle and expect to be a little flexible.
The 5:30 AM Race Starters may be a self start? Meaning no bibs? Be sure to email me your results so I can post them.
The 6:30 AM Race Starters may be the same also? Everything is still set to go - just please be be a little flexible.
Final Bib Numbers are posted Monday (5/29/17).
Relay Teams do not need a number - just report your times.
You can still sign up and participate on Day Of Race also
Hope all makes sense - everything will still work out - results will just take a little longer to post. Will post the week after the race.

The Green River Marathon is a Marathon/Relay/Fun Run put on for FREE! That's right, no cost at all. It is put on entirely by an all volunteer crew and donations by the event's originators and organizers. Even the T-shirts are sold only at their cost. Donations are appreciated and keep this run going. Donations are used to help pay for event costs, ie supplies, improvements and certifications. Most of the funds are donated to Northwest Harvest. Donations are typically given when you pick up your shirt or on Day Of Race.
A fun Seattle-area run in early June (first Saturday) is the Green River Marathon/Relay. This year will be the 21ST annual event. Marathon Maniac, Eastside Runners and Interurban Running Club member Steve Barrick and Marathon Maniac Jim Anderson put on this run with the help of many volunteers. It begins at the intersection of the Green River trail and the Interurban trail in South Kent. GPS Starting Location: S. 259th and 74th Avenue S. Kent WA 98032 (Foster Park):
GPS Finishing Location: 2666 Alki Avenue SW Seattle, WA 98116 (Spud's Fish and Chips):
GREEN RIVER MARATHON (CERTIFICATION # WA09024MW) IS A BOSTON QUALIFYING RACE.
The run is very flat with two short hills late in the run. The last few miles have views of Seattle and Puget Sound towards the Olympics. The finish is in front of Spud's Fish and Chips at Alki.
If you don't want to run the entire 26.2 miles, then get together some friends and make it a relay with any number of participants. Everyone is encouraged to participate by running as far as they like. In past years we have had runners running as little as 2.5 miles and as much as 22.5 miles. There are no formal rules or divisions, the run is just for fun and to stay in shape. About 25% of the participants are on relays. They help cheer the others along and pass out water, gatorade and GU (?) which is provided free. Many of the parks have restrooms along the way. Support is limited, so those with special nutritional and fluid needs are encouraged to make their own arrangements.
This is a low key run amongst friends with no entry fee. A commemorative T-shirt (short sleeve for 2017 (probably - may change?) - high quality wicking material - will be available for $15 with advance notice. There are no awards, but most of the runners treat themselves to a lunch at Spuds at the finish.
Very limited return transportation will be provided to those that request it in advance. Runners are encouraged to meet at the finish at 6:45 AM to car pool back to the start. Runners can also choose to meet at the start and hope for a ride back.
For more details on this run and relay along with return transportation options see email links below. If you are planning on running in the Green River Marathon please let the Race Director Barrick know by email. The race is free but we need to know how many people will need return transportation and how many supplies to purchase for the aid stations. Solo marathon runners need to email: First and last name, City and State, DOB, age on June 4th 2016, sex, best marathon time, predicted marathon time and T-shirt size if ordering one or n/a if not, while relay teams need to email their team name and participant names, this is mainly for the race results page. NOTE – Shirt sizes run S - XL for women and S – XXL for men. Please specify if you want a women’s cut shirt.

Green River Marathon and all volunteers are not responsible for any injuries or deaths. The Green River Marathon is a free run; the aid is free, the run is free, the shirts are sold at cost, there are no bib numbers, there are no awards, and no one is paid. This is a low key run amongst friends. If you require special assistance or are unsure of your abilities please think twice about running 26.2 miles, unless you take necessary precautions. You must have medical clearance from your doctor before you begin any exercise program or running in any marathons. It is not our intent for anyone to get hurt while running the Green River Marathon.
/30/16: All Marathon Runners and Marathon Relay Teams will have Bib Numbers Assigned. They will be posted on the Confirmation Page Thursday Afternoon (6/2/16). Try to pick up your Bibs and/or Shirts at one of the prerace activities if you can. You can still get a shirt - I ordered a lot of extra shirts. I ran and drove the whole course this weekend. Course is well marked and in excellent condition. Arrangements have been made for Volunteers to pick up their supplies before Race Day. Volunteers find me at the start and I will go over your assignments. I may need a volunteer to drive a vehicle to the finish for me? More later on this?
